Are you coming to look at the
Mental Health Art Tour?
De Mental Health Art Tour is een reizende expositie die nu te zien en ervaren is op de Jan van Galenstraat en de Amstel. In samenwerking met Gemeente Amsterdam en Vitaliteit bij WPI.

Mental Health Art Tour in Rotterdam South: Art as a means to make mental health a topic of discussion.
Marjan van Gameren, who works at SOL Welzijn and serves as a liaison officer for residents with mild intellectual disabilities or mental health issues, has taken the initiative, together with the Municipality of Rotterdam, for the Mental Health Art Tour (MHAT) in Rotterdam Feijenoord. The goal of this exhibition is to open up discussion about mental health and to raise awareness.
Rol van de welzijnsorganisatie
SOL zet zich in om kwetsbare Rotterdammers met een LVB of GGZ-achtergrond de juiste ondersteuning te bieden in hun eigen wijk. Dit betekent:
- Residents find the support they need in their neighborhood and can participate in society.
- Anyone who wishes to do so can contribute to society in an accessible way.
- Rotterdammers get the chance to develop and use their talents.
Residents can, among other things, visit the recovery academy (see www.deherstelacademie.nl) in the neighborhood or join various activities in the Community Centers.
Opening event on March 10 The Mental Health Art Tour will kick off with a festive networking event for local residents and professionals on Monday, March 10. During this event, spoken word artist Patrick Ribeiro will perform, and Ir. ing. Mohamed Boulahrir will give an inspiring lecture. The exhibition will be officially opened by Tamara Swart and Alderman Faouzi Achbar.
Locations and activity program After the opening, the exhibition will initially be on display at Huis van de Wijk 't Klooster, and later a number of works will also be shown in the Noordereiland, Bloemhof, and Vreewijk neighborhoods.
In addition to the exhibition, there is an extensive program of activities centered on the theme of mental well-being, including:
- KOPP/KOV Training: For professionals working with children of parents with mental health problems and/or addiction.
- Training Dealing with Stress: For neighborhood residents who need support with stress management.
- Theater program on March 19: Free performance by Maarten van Veen, who shares personal stories through music and interaction with the audience.

When you feel good both physically and mentally, you function better, have a more positive outlook on life, and suffer less from stress.
The Mental Health Art Tour is a traveling exhibition that can be seen and experienced in Rotterdam starting January 23, 2025. Through impressive portraits, the exhibition tells the stories of a number of well-known Dutch people about their mental health. Mental health is about being resilient and feeling strong, being able to adapt, setting boundaries, and taking control of your own life.
Take the time occasionally to reflect on your mental health. When you are aware of how you are doing, you also have a better understanding of the areas where you might want to develop further or need help, for example when experiencing work pressure or stress, or going through a major life event.
