MOHAMEDOU werd geboren in Mauritanië en kreeg na de middelbare school een beurs om in Duitsland te studeren, waar hij technisch ingenieur werd. In 2001, na 9/11, werd hij zonder aanklacht opgepakt en uiteindelijk overgebracht naar Guantanamo Bay, waar hij 15 jaar onterecht vastzat. Mohamedou beschouwt het als zijn missie om de stem van onrecht te zijn en op te komen voor degenen die zichzelf niet kunnen verdedigen. Zijn verhaal is vastgelegd in 25 talen in het boek Guantanamo Diary en verfilmd in de Netflix-film The Mauritanian.

Art Tour
The Mental Health Art Tour is a traveling exhibition that can be seen and experienced in Rotterdam starting in February of this year. Through impressive portraits, the exhibition tells the stories of a number of well-known Dutch people about their mental health. Mental health is about being resilient and feeling strong, being able to adapt, setting boundaries, and taking control of your own life.
