Tamara Swart
Listen here to the audio clip of Tamara, portrayed by artist Irene Hoff, part of the Mental Health Art Tour.
Life comes in many forms: you can fall ill, lose loved ones, or encounter other setbacks on your path.
Tamara has not remained unscathed in life either. Thanks to therapy, she has learned to cope with her traumas. She also sought out role models and was inspired by people like Steve Biko, Victor Frankl, and Edith Eva Eger. Tamara realized that taking good care of yourself involves not only getting enough sleep and eating a healthy diet, but that mental care must be added to that as well. Only then does personal growth occur. There are very practical tools available that you can easily apply in your daily life and that really make a difference. From breathing exercises and silent retreats to professional support. It is about connecting with yourself. That you can choose to do things differently at any moment of the day. And that is not airy-fairy. I always say: your car isn't damage-free either and needs an inspection and maintenance.
Mental Health
Art Tour
The Mental Health Art Tour is a traveling exhibition that can be seen and experienced on Jan van Galenstraat starting April 22. And on the Amstel around mid-May; more information will follow. Through impressive portraits, the exhibition tells the stories of a number of well-known Dutch people regarding their mental health. Mental health is about being resilient and feeling strong, being able to adapt, setting boundaries, and taking control of your own life.
