MOHAMEDOU OULD SLAHI

When you go to bed, forgive the people who have hurt you. Do not let the trauma stay with you any longer.

A quote from the audio of Mohamedou. He was wrongly imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay for 15 years.

MOHAMEDOU was born in Mauritania. After high school, he received a scholarship to study, left for Germany at the age of eighteen, and became a technical engineer. In 2001, following 9/11, he was arrested and eventually transferred to Guantanamo Bay without charge. Mohamedou sees it as his mission to be the face and voice of injustice and to stand up for those who cannot defend themselves. His story has been published in 25 languages as the book "Guantanamo Diary" and adapted into the Netflix film "The Mauritanian".
