Coming soon: Dirk de Wachter
Dirk de Wachter is a Belgian psychiatrist and professor at KU Leuven. He is known for his work in the field of psychiatry,
particularly around themes such as happiness, love, and connectedness. De Wachter has written various books in which he reflects on
modern society and its impact on our mental health.
Psychiatrist Dirk De Wachter was always very withdrawn, but with death staring him in the face, now that he has cancer, that has changed. 'Jean-Paul Sartre says: hell is the other. That is not true. Hell is having no one.' 'I'm not half the man I used to be. The Beatles. And that is how it is. Some weeks I gave a lecture every evening, from Paris to Groningen. That is no longer possible. I now have someone drive me there and pick me up, and I limit myself to two lectures a week.' Source: Brenda van Osch
Mental Health
Art Tour
The Mental Health Art Tour is a traveling exhibition that can be seen and experienced on Jan van Galenstraat starting April 22. And on the Amstel around mid-May; more information will follow. Through impressive portraits, the exhibition tells the stories of a number of well-known Dutch people regarding their mental health. Mental health is about being resilient and feeling strong, being able to adapt, setting boundaries, and taking control of your own life.
